On April 18, 2025, the 2025 Academic Exchange Meeting of the CCS Young Elite Scientist Sponsorship Program (YESS) was successfully held at Henan University (Zhengzhou Campus). The meeting featured the summary reports from the 7th YESS and the inaugural reports from the 10th YESS. Academician mentors including Prof. Buxing Han, Prof. Xiang Zhou, and Prof. Shuli You, along with several young scientist mentors, joined the event to exchange ideas with the young talents. They discussed research progress, shared academic insights, and provided valuable guidance. Academician Prof. Suojiang Zhang, President of Henan University, attended the meeting as a special guest and delivered remarks. The meeting was co-chaired by Prof. Yanglong Hou, Deputy Secretary General of the CCS, and Prof. Shutao Wang, Director of the Young Chemists Committee of the CCS.

During the meeting, Lidong Han from the CCS Secretariat gave an overview of the YESS. The 7th YESS presented summary reports highlighting their research progress and personal development during the program period. The 10th YESS introduced their research plans, outlined current challenges, and expressed specific needs for support from the CCS and their mentors.
In the discussion session, academician and young scientist mentors provided practical advice based on their own research experience. They encouraged the young scholars to communicate actively with their assigned mentors, seek support in refining research directions, methodologies, and resource integration, and to explore independent research paths that reflect their personal academic identity. The mentors also emphasized the importance of academic integrity, originality, and a constructive academic environment in training the next generation of scientists.
Now in its tenth round, the CCS Young Elite Scientist Sponsorship Program has become a key initiative in fostering early-career researchers in chemistry. It has contributed to strengthening the Society’s youth talent system and building a strong reserve of young scientific talent in China. The regular academic exchange meetings offer a platform for young scientists to showcase their work, gain inspiration, and engage in mutual learning.
