On April 29, 2025, the tenth lecture of the "Chemistry Talks" series, organized by the Chinese Chemical Society, was successfully held at Nanjing Zhonghua High School. Over 700 high school students from Nanjing Zhonghua High School participated in this event.
The lecture was delivered by Prof. Zijian Guo, a Professor at Nanjing University. With the theme "The Colorful and Diverse World of Chemistry". Beginning with the periodic table, Prof. Guo guided the students through the connections between elements and life was analyzed to the students. He went on to introduce the important role of chemistry in the field of life and health from the story of the discovery of penicillin. Finally, he concluded the talk by exploring the intersections of chemistry with literature and art.
Prof. Guo's captivating lecture earned enthusiastic applause from the students, who eagerly posed questions such as, "What is the origin of molecular chirality?"" Storage and retrieval of biological information" Prof. Guo patiently answered each question, sharing his professional insights and sparking further curiosity among the students.
